“CORPSE BRIDE”
There were a couple of success fish merchant named William and Nell Van
Gort. They were very happy because their son named Victor Van Gort would marry
a noble’s daughter named Victoria Everglot. They wanted to improve their
social status. Van Gort family didn’t know that in fact Victoria’s parents
named Lord and Lady Maudeline Finis Everglot had become poor. The accident
occurred because of Victor and Victoria have not known each other so when they
do wedding rehearsal, Victor was very nervous and could not memorize the
wedding vow. Because of that, Pastor Galswells who led the rehearsal was
angry and stopped it until Victor could say the wedding vow fluently, a wedding
ceremony will planned in the next morning.
Anxious to marry Victoria, Victor train their own wedding ceremony in the
cemetery. He put the wedding ring onto a tree branch. Victor was so
surprised because he thought the object was a tree branch actually the finger
bone of a female corpse. The corpse named Emily.
Emily was
killed by robbers while waiting for her lover in a forest.
Emily pulled Victor to get into the world of the dead. Victor was trying to
explain that he was still alive but Emily didn’t want to understand him. Victor
had tried to escape but always failed. He was desperate.
Finally, Victor agreed to marry her but firstly Victor have to meet his
parents. Elder Gutknecht helped Victor and Emily entered the real
world. Victor tells her to wait in the forest and Victor was going to call
his parents. Victor actually lied because he wanted to meet Victoria. Victor
told the problem to Victoria but suddenly Emily pulled him to came back to the
world of the dead. Victoria asked for help to the Pastor Galswells to solve
marital problems but failed because of Pastor Galswells didn’t believe the
Victoria’s story and Victoria returns to her parents.
As a result, her parents were angry and locked Victoria in her room. Because
Victor would not come and Victoria’s parents did not want to fall into poverty,
they decided to married Victoria to Lord Barkis who look like a rich guy. Victor
was broken heart and finally agreed to marry Emily. Victor had to drink
poisoned wine to death and his spirit will married with Emily.The wedding must
be held in real world. As a result, all the spirits of the dead came to
the real world to attend the marriage of Victor and Emily. All of the people
screamed and frightened, but they realize all of the spirits were their
family. So,they went into a church together to attend the marriage of
Victor and Emily.
Finally, the church held a wedding ceremony between Victor and Emily. When
Victor would drunk the poisoned wine, Emily saw the arrival of Victoria. Emily
realized that in fact Victoria was better than herself. With great
self-sacrifice, Emily allowed Victor to marry Victoria.
Suddenly, Lord Barkis came and tried to retake Victoria. Shock occurs
when the Lord Barkis met Emily. Lord Barkis was Emily’s lover formerly. Victor,
with the help of his friends from the world of the dead managed to trap the
Lord Barkis to drink poisoned wine. Lord Barkis dead and Victor had married
Victoria. Emily no longer disappointed with her tragic death. Her soul became
to thousands of butterflies then fly to heaven.
